tsf shows its skills – casted bionic struktures

The combination of different manufacturing processes is what drives the process development team of tübingen stahlfeinguss tsf . The project team already started in 2019 to give shape to an extraordinary customer requirement. The goal was a weight-reduced and cost-optimized version of an existing welded construction of a “fun bike”. The interdisciplinary tsf-team took care of the matter and designed a dimensionally stable, visually appealing frame in close partnership with the customer. At the same time, a manufacturing process was developed that meets the requirements: low costs despite the low number of individual pieces, mapping of the topology-optimized, bionic shape and maximum workpiece stability. The separate challenge for process development was to optimize the cost-intensive technology of SLM (selective laser melting). “Our gears fit together perfectly,” says Dr. Stüber, Head of Technology and Quality after developing a process from a 3D printed model in combination with the advantages of the conventional investment casting process. With a project lead time of 25 days, tsf lived up to its reputation as the fastest investment casting company in Europe and once again gave the idea a...
Regional network proves its worth in the Corona crisis – tsf still fully deliverable

Regional network proves its worth in the Corona crisis – tsf still fully deliverable

PR-news Tübingen, 23.03.2020 For immediate publication Since its foundation in 1968, the family-run company tsf Tübingen Stahlfeinguss has placed great emphasis on regional networks and supply chains, from mould making to the procurement of raw materials and the reprocessing of the finished castings. How resilient this network is, despite the current events around the Coronavirus, is now being demonstrated: The company is still capable of on time delivering and offers its customers security of supply. The “fastest steel foundry in Europe” supports its customers throughout the manufacturing process of steel casting in the lost wax casting process, from the production of moulds to the mechanical production of the lost wax models for casting, through selection and qualification of the right material up to the post-processing of the castings with regard to critical geometries. With ready-to-assembly solutions from a single source, tsf offers its customers not only outstanding quality, but above all an outstanding mix of possibilities that is precisely tailored to the individual needs of the customers. The currently rampant Corona virus does not change this: “Personal meetings are currently cancelled to protect our customers and employees,” says tsf Managing Director Stephan Strohbücker, “but the current online tools are used to provide direct support and continuation of customer projects at all times. For our young team, this way of working is routine.” His colleague Martin Krämer, Sales Manager at tsf, adds: “We are all accessible through the usual communication channels and above all speak the language of our customers. This takes “NetMeetings” a huge hurdle, because there are no misunderstandings.” The raw material warehouse at tsf, otherwise always a...
tsf winning Environmental Award 2019

tsf winning Environmental Award 2019

For the first time, tsf tübinger stahlfeinguss participated in the Environmental Award of Stadtwerke Tübingen, the local electricity provider, and came in third. For many years now, Stadtwerke Tübingen has been awarding three regional companies in addition to numerous regional projects and environmental initiatives. The jury was looking for businesses and companies that make a positive and above-average contribution to environmental protection through their voluntary commitment. “We are proud that we were able to convince the expert jury with our numerous initiatives and subprojects all the way to climate-neutral production,” enthused project manager Thomas Karcher, who was responsible for the project planning of a 100kWp photovoltaic system. At tsf, as part of the economy for the common good, all employees are constantly involved in optimization and given a lot of freedom to implement their own ideas. Tsf receives an e-charging station as wallbox with 11 kW of power, which can be used by suppliers, customers and visitors in the near future. More: Learn more of the sustanability strategy of tsf. tsf supports Formula Student

tsf supports Formula Student

tübinger stahlfeinguss supports the Pforzheim college racing team “Rennschmiede Pforzheim” as a bronze partner with chassis parts and practical experience. The steering adapters produced in Rapid Prototyping enable the Formula Student Team at Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences to consistently implement a durable lightweight design. The design team, which is responsible for the chassis, gained valuable hands-on experience in the investment casting process and was able to get to know the production facilities and processes at tsf. tsf project manager Thomas Karcher: “Racing excites the limits of what is technically feasible. This is exactly what we do on a daily basis when it comes to handling liquid steel. With our support and know-how, we want to inspire young (racing) engineers for the founding and the possibilities of investment casting.” “We experience with our customers again and again an ‘WOW-effect’, if we prove that with investment casting even small quantities can be realized economically in addition to complex geometries. We also want to convey these findings to the engineers, designers and buyers of tomorrow”, adds Katrin Köngeter, who is responsible for sales and project management at tsf. One last season with “gasoline in blood,” the racing team Pforzheim will start with the car “Emerald” before developing an electrified race car in 2020. Larger engine size, new chassis with revised cinematics as well as an aerodynamic package with 30% more downforce while maintaining drag should bring points and victories in the Formula Student racing series. The whole tsf team wishes every success and exciting victories!   Rollout des RSP19 “Emerald”:...

tsf continues to source 100% green electricity

tsf continues to source 100% green electricity

In the new year, tsf will continue to source 100% green electricity, which is generated exclusively from renewable energy. The managing director of Stadtwerke Tübingen (swt), Ortwin Wiebecke, welcomes the new supply contract between swt and tsf: “We are pleased that we can continue to supply tsf with our certified green electricity. The overall resonance and demand for green electricity is increasing in the economy.” The resulting additional costs will be 100% reinvested in the further expansion of renewable energies in order to realize ambitious European climate goals. The managing tsf shareholder Johanna Stadtler: “There is no planet B, and we are fully aware of this enormous responsibility. Especially due to our relatively energy-intensive products and production processes, we have to face the challenge of resource-conserving methods and therefore want to contribute to the national expansion of renewable energy. ” In addition to the purchase and planned production of environmentally friendly green electricity, tsf is also striving to increase in resource efficiency, with numerous projects and micro-measures aimed to improve energy efficiency. Among others, these measures were awarded by the state of Baden-Württemberg in the competition for excellence “100 Companies for Resource Efficiency”. With new production facilities, heat recovery and highly efficient operating infrastructure, tsf reduces its relative total annual energy requirements. Managing Director Stephan Strohbücker adds: “Through these measures, we try to reconcile the ecological footprint with the economic goals of our customers and minimize the additional burden of rising energy costs for our customers.” From 2019, tsf will also make its own contribution to green electricity generation and install a photovoltaic system with just under 100 kWh....
