tsf supports Formula Student

Presentation of the RSP19 “Emerald”

tübinger stahlfeinguss supports the Pforzheim college racing team “Rennschmiede Pforzheim” as a bronze partner with chassis parts and practical experience. The steering adapters produced in Rapid Prototyping enable the Formula Student Team at Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences to consistently implement a durable lightweight design. The design team, which is responsible for the chassis, gained valuable hands-on experience in the investment casting process and was able to get to know the production facilities and processes at tsf.

tsf project manager Thomas Karcher: “Racing excites the limits of what is technically feasible. This is exactly what we do on a daily basis when it comes to handling liquid steel. With our support and know-how, we want to inspire young (racing) engineers for the founding and the possibilities of investment casting.” “We experience with our customers again and again an ‘WOW-effect’, if we prove that with investment casting even small quantities can be realized economically in addition to complex geometries. We also want to convey these findings to the engineers, designers and buyers of tomorrow”, adds Katrin Köngeter, who is responsible for sales and project management at tsf.

The racing team gains their own experience in building the 3-D printed prototype parts in the tsf prototype manufacturing

One last season with “gasoline in blood,” the racing team Pforzheim will start with the car “Emerald” before developing an electrified race car in 2020. Larger engine size, new chassis with revised cinematics as well as an aerodynamic package with 30% more downforce while maintaining drag should bring points and victories in the Formula Student racing series.

The whole tsf team wishes every success and exciting victories!
